When nine-year old Elmer Elevator hears about a baby dragon who is held captive by the ferocious animals of Wild Island, he sets off on an adventure to rescue the dragon and return him home. With the help of his friend the Alley Cat, Elmer packs everything he thinks he’ll need – including chewing gum, two-dozen lollipops, seven hair ribbons and a box of rubber bands! With pluck and ingenuity Elmer makes his way to the Island, outwits the wild animals and saves Boris, the dragon. But can they find their way back home?
Using puppets, masks, inventive scenic effects and original music, Enchantment Theatre Company is delighted to celebrate the book’s 70th Anniversary by bringing the story to life.

Rhythm is a universal element of music. Composers and musicians play with elements of musical time, creating patterns of sound and silence that are expressive and exciting. Through the Link Up repertoire, students explore rhythm, pulse and groove as listeners, composers and performers, and play and sing alongside the Springfield Symphony Orchestra. Repertoire highlights: Verdi's Anvil Chorus, Orff's O Fortuna from Carmina Burana, Stravinsky's The Rite of Spring and Holst's Mars! This is a national program of Carnegie Hall's Weill Music Institute.
*In order to fully participate in this hands-on concert, registration is requested by December 1, 2017. This will ensure that schools/teachers receive the necessary supplemental materials in advance. The Springfield Symphony Orchestra will contact those who have registered to explain this unique and exciting process. If registration is received after December 1, students will still be able to attend and observe the concert, but will be unable to participate.
