Who are Clark State Performing Arts Center Volunteers?
Performing Arts Center volunteers come from all areas of the community. A volunteer has a twofold job: To assist the patrons and to help promote the Center and its programs. Volunteers are responsible for the safety and well being of many large audiences as well as personally contributing to the professional manner in which the Performing Arts Center is managed.

What are the requirements for a position as a Performing Arts Center volunteer?

  1. Interest in providing service to the arts community
  2. Enthusiasm and customer service orientation
  3. Ability to work with a wide range of personality types
  4. Ability to work as a team member and independently
  5. Ability to read and comprehend seating charts and tickets

Volunteers are selected based on availability, related experience, and the needs of the Center.

Volunteers must be at least 14 years of age. Those who are 18 and under must have the consent of a parent or guardian who must also attend an orientation session with the volunteer.

Why should I volunteer at the Performing Arts Center?
You’ll have the chance to help keep the arts alive and flourishing in the community. Without volunteers, the Center simply could not provide such great performances to our audiences at reasonable costs.

What benefits do I receive as a Performing Arts Center volunteer?
As a volunteer, your benefits include the satisfaction of making a positive contribution to the success of the Performing Arts Center, being a part of the exciting life of the theatre and meeting interesting new people. There are also tangible rewards, such as recognition gifts, parties, and the chance to see performances.

How do I become a Performing Arts Center volunteer?
Simply fill out the volunteer application (PDF), contact the Volunteer Desk at 937-328-3864 or the House Operations Manager at 937-328-6082. Your application will be reviewed. If accepted, you will take part in a volunteer training session that is conducted twice a year. During your early volunteer training, you will be paired with a “buddy” (an experienced volunteer) who will “show you the ropes.”

When do I start?
There’s no time like the present! In addition to ushering, volunteers help out in the office, assist in the box office and distribute publicity materials throughout the region. There are two training sessions – one in August and one in January. No matter what your talents are or how much time you have to offer there’s a place for you at the Clark State Performing Arts Center.
